Clicker Training Review

Would you like to Become a Super Trainer?

I witnessed a tragic event one morning when I was running with my dog Rigby off leash. He commenced galavanting with another group of three dogs, a couple of labs and a border. Rigby is a water lover, and I mean incorrigible, as were his new friends, the only trouble was, their owner didn’t want them to swim…. You can visualise what came to pass, they were all in the pond having a great time!

Anyway, their owner was calling them out unsuccessfully and when they decided they’d had enough, to my shock… they got a flogging with their leash, after that Rigby’s playmates kept a clear distance from their boss, and who would be suprised. Rigby came and sat behind my legs quaking. At the time he was still just a pup, so why did he do what I required?

A Clicker had been the main training tool for a few months and though still in the beginning stages, Rigby’s grasp was very clear and he knew that if he responded correctly, he would be rewarded. We still see the reluctant group occasionally but their master still twigged!

‘The 4 Secrets of Becoming a Supertrainer’ introduced us to using Clicker training, we found this extraordinary book is by far the most informative guide to the Clicker Training technique. It’s authority has also been employed by other organizations and people:

It is compulsory reading for Guide Dog for the Blind Instructors in California

It is used for training Search & Rescue Dogs and Military Patrol Dogs

Clicker Training is very successful in training marine Mammals

An increasing number of Dog Trainers use it for Corrective Behavior Training

But this book is not primarily for professional trainers, it is great for every pet owner who would love to own a well trained dog; a pet they are proud of.

The creators of  ‘The 4 Secrets of Becoming a Supertrainer’ have been involved in dog trainers for many years, so this is not the work of a theorist, it is grounded on well researched techniques and never uses any sort of admonishment.

The instructions are easy to interpret, well laid out and you will quickly put into practice the training techniques. The experienced trainers will also find a good selection of ideas they can absorb into their programs.

I doesn’t  matter whether you own a dog, cat, horse or guinea pig, they will all respond to the clicker system, you will be amazed how you can adapt the instructions to your own training challenge.
