The animal cruelty laws of the European Union are much more advanced than those of the United States. The main reason for this is because the EU sees animals as having inherent value; the US sees them as only property. Just as slaves were once seen as being property, so too are the animals in today’s modern world. The only way to stop this from continuing is to become active in the fight for the prevention of cruelty to animals.
